Where's The Transparency?
Tuesday February 23, 2010 - This past Monday one of our BRANews
writers was contacted by Tribal Treasurer, Etta Burns. She stated she was
calling on behalf of Chairman Wiggins. Apparently Chairman Wiggins was
wondering if we would remove the Beloit Casino Project expenditure sheet
which is highlighted in our story titled "Where's The Money?" from our
BRANews website because the sheet's actual numbers are way off (off-
record reports from very high ranking officials have said the numbers
are closer to $10 million spent on the project). After reaffirming his
promises of transparency, Chairman Wiggins told those attending the
meeting, Council Member Bonnie Greene (Bigboy) had been the actual
preparer of this expenditure sheet. This document had been presented to
the tribal membership as factual. Instead our people's time was wasted and
we were led to believe in misinformation of facts. I have been asked to
remove this document that was presented at the community informational
meeting. My answer as webmaster is, I will not. This "document of fact" will
stay and serve as a reminder of the misinformation our people have been
historically fed by administration after administration. Either the people of
Bad River have been blatantly lied to or somebody's number crunching is
severely inept. In any event, our people have been misinformed and now we
want answers, we want the truth. I invite our tribal officials to produce "the
right numbers" to the people of Bad River, only then will I remove this
"document of fact" which was presented as an artical of transparency at the
    community informational meeting.
