At the March 4th regular Tribal Council Meeting, Tribal members questioned the reason for the Council conducting official meetings during the day, as the inconvenient time prevents most members from attending. Some members that are employed within the Tribe asked if the Council was allowing employees time off to attend Council meetings as Council members are also Tribal employees. The Council was told that by not allowing employees time off to attend the daytime meetings that are open to all members, they were infringing upon their constitutional right to attend meetings and that it was a hardship for members employed elsewhere to attend meetings during the usual daytime business hours. Vice chairman Peter Lemieux announced that the meeting on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 10am would be changed to 4:30pm. During the five minute session last night, a few issues were raised by Tribal Members, Besides the meetings conducted at inconvenient times, the provisions outlined in our constitution regarding the three day posting and minutes recorded were also discussed.
