A New Face In Niizhoo-Akiing?
Developer Kurt Carlson recently sold the
proposed site for the Beloit Casino to the Ho-
Chunk Nation. Besides the close proximity to the
proposed Beloit Casino, the Ho-Chunk also have
one guaranteed gaming site left in their current
compact. The Ho-Chunk are highly interested in
erecting a gaming facility at the proposed site.
Both the Bad River and St. Croix tribes are in
direct contact with the Ho-Chunk and talks have
already been underway. Bad River and St. Croix
are also actively interested in purchasing the
surrounding land adjacent to the site. It will be
interesting to see just exactly what they have up
their sleeves. This is just another political white
ribbon move. Don't be fooled. Money is still
being spent, contracts are still getting signed,
and the lobbyists are still trying to put a pretty
red bow on the Beloit Casino Project and sell it
all to Washington.
