The Departed
    Saturday December 5, 2009 - During
    Wednesday's council meeting Chairman
Wiggins updated the tribal membership in
regards to the ongoing investigation into the
    recent discovery of the "departing
packages" that were given to the outgoing
    administration and employees. He explained
there are limitations on the disclosure of
certain names, "per the tribe's policies and
    procedures". The departing employees were
given five percent arbitrary bonuses which
    were approved by the outgoing
    administration and "were within the
guidelines according to the policies and
procedures set forth by the tribe". The
    outgoing administration's approximate take
was a bonus of $3,468 and $2,026 in
accrued leave for the ex-chairman. The ex-
treasurer also received a bonus of $3,180
and $2,246 in accrued leave. The grand
total of the "departing package" was
    $21,348. Chairman Wiggins stated the
process is currently underway to recoup
$6,621.00 of that money which is in violation
of the tribe's accrued leave time policy.
Chairman Wiggins further stated "this is a
personnel issue and no recourse could be
taken under the tribes current policies and
    procedures". Chairman Wiggins stated in
    frustration, "the departing package would
have been enough to fund 44
5 percent minimum wage COLA increases".
