Membership Finally
Receives First Beloit
Casino Informational Meeting
Sunday January 10, 2010 - Almost ten long
years overdue, the Bad River tribal council
finally presented an informative meeting to the
Bad River Nation regarding the status of the
Beloit casino project. Chairman Wiggins opened
the presentation by restating his promise for a
more transparent government. Friday's meeting
(1/8/10) was the first of its kind, which was open
to tribal membership since the project had first
been set into motion. The presentation was
highlighted by informational handouts
describing the Beloit Casino Project's time line
and a general breakdown of the monies spent
which was displayed on an overhead projector.
After the presentation there was an open
discussion between the council and tribal
membership. The meeting was very candid and
for the first time membership had the
opportunity to get many heartfelt questions and
concerns off their chests. It was also the first
time the tribal council had much needed
community input. Walking away, the general
consensus of the meeting was the protection
and preservation of our tribal lands and assets.
Not present at the meeting was Vice chairman,
Peter Lemieux and council member, Bonnie
Greene. To view the presentation literature click
